So I noticed a very particular scene in episode 19 that has a canon point for Roy and Riza…and it seems to be underrated and disregarded.

It is located at the first part of the episode, continuing what was left off in the previous one. What happened there was that Gluttony found Riza and she protected herself from Gluttony and emitting gunshots while the receiver was dropped, letting Roy hear what’s happening to Riza.

Cleary, he thinks that Riza was still wearing the receiver since he was like “Elizabeth? Hey, what going on?” Answer me!” 

All shit was happening, his subordinates were out in the field getting murdered while he was relaxing on his comfy sofa chair. That was a blow to him, apparently. I mean he has people INSIDE the room with him so he’s trying to calm down his rage as he fruitlessly hopes Riza would answer.

THEN THIS HAPPENED.

 A.FUCKING.FLASHBACK.OF.HUGHES. 

Hughes is his best friend. And he lost him. 

Then he realizes he cant lose Riza. The mere thought of Hughe’s death sent waves to Roy but he did not think for even a moment about Hughes but his death. Instead, he thought of Riza. Just by looking how his eyes widen at the thought that what happened to Hughes would befall onto Riza’s fate, you can see that EVERY FUCKING ROYAI MOMENT MAKES SENSE.

It’s just so…canon.
